International Day of Persons with Disabilities is coming up on December 3rd, 2024. This year’s theme is Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future. The theme is aimed to highlight the global disability movement of Nothing About Us Without Us. It is a day of celebration, learning, and awareness for the need for action for persons with disabilities.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is important as it is an annual day of celebration. It is also an annual reminder of what has been done and how much action is still needed to fully realize the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

It is a time of connection to celebrate the work that has been done and signal to decision makers of the amount of work and commitment that is needed.

What you can do.

  • Learn about the Convention for Rights for Persons with Disabilities

  • Aware of local issues of accessibility and disability issues in your community

  • Attend events for International Day of Persons with Disabilities. There are many in-person and online events happening!

  • Take training for accessibility improvements for the community. There are still many improvements to make in all areas of society.

Keep voicing the importance of people with disabilities’ leadership in accessibility and inclusion for a better society.
