It’s hard to believe that this is the 100th blog post on Amanda Listens. It is also close to 3 years since I started this blog in March 2023 and over 3 years since I decided to do this. From the beginning (and still it), it was a place to share my thoughts and provide a different perspective on disability and accessibility on different issues.
The first year (2023-24), I was focused on putting content onto Amanda Listens since I was just starting out. Sharing what has been going through my mind and what was happening.
The second year (2024-25), I now understood what I was writing and sharing about. I shifted my focus to try some ideas to see if it was something that can be done moving forward.
The third year (2025-26), I fully knew my focus and started working towards more accessibility and disability content for people to be more disability-inclusive.
I am happy that I stayed consistent and continued with Amanda Listens. It is a hobby that allows me to talk about issues close to me and I love doing it. The past couple of years have been harder due to the life of a disabled person where energy is fluctuating constantly. I am proud of adapting to what I can do and focus on instead of criticizing myself for not being the ideal version of myself that would have consistent energy
I am looking forward to continuing sharing about accessibility, disability experience and global issues. I launched the Accessibility Guide back in the Fall and I will keep working on it for improvements. My motivation is that the topics I discuss and share can encourage people to think differently about disability and accessibility for a more disability-inclusive society.
